Africam Virtual Field Trip

The Africam Virtual Field Trip allows teachers and their students to take a wild ride through the African Safari. There are live cameras and channels that show a few areas of the safari, such as, Oliphant’s River, Rosie’s Pan, Tau, and Tembe. To add, there are highlighted clips that display a whole bunch of elephants roaming through the lands. This is like a trip to the zoo, but better!!

With becoming K-6 and Middle School English Language Arts and Science certified, I plan on using this website as a virtual field trip option. It is important to learn about the ecosystem and the environment that unique animals live in. If I were to teach a Middle School Science or Environmental Science course, I would include this trip into my lesson plans when teaching about food chains and wildlife. Watching these live stream channels would give the students an opportunity to just watch and connect to what they are specifically learning in class. Sometimes, students need a break from reading and writing, and need to visually see what is happening in the real world for themselves.

I think this field trip would be a great idea to include within my future lesson plans and would support the evidence in the specific chapter we were focusing on.
