The Importance of Collaboration

The information I got for this blog post comes from the book: Sail the 7 Cs with Microsoft Education by Becky Keene and Kathi Kersznowski

What are some technological ways we as teachers can collaborate with other teachers?

Recently, I learned about something called TweetMeets. These are Twitter chats that anyone around the world can be apart of. This can be done by starting a designated hashtag that people can find and reply to conversations within the hashtag. These can be very beneficial for teachers who are looking to collaborate and chat with other educators around the world about online tools they can use in their classroom. Common hashtags for education chats are #TweetMeet and #EdTechChat.

Collaboration with others is a very essential aspect of every way of life. Teachers collaborate with many different people during the day. Tweet meets can be very beneficial for teachers. Technology is increasing every day, especially in the classroom. This is a great way for teachers to collaborate with each other from all over the world. I just started browsing these hashtags a week ago, and I have already learned so much. There are many different online tools to support teaching and learning. Twitter is one of the most popular social media platforms. It’s essential to develop a strong PLN while using Twitter. This can include, adding a profile picture, posting Tweets for others to view, following accounts that you are interested in, etc. If you browse #TweetMeet, you will find many helpful suggestions for you to use in your classroom. Microsoft is the company that runs the tweet meets.

Microsoft has many great tools that can be used in the classroom. A great hashtag to check out, as seen in the video, is #MSFTEduChat. While searching this hashtag you can find many different tools that other educators share. While it’s great to explore and check these out, it’s also excellent to post your own finds. Tweet meets aren’t just something you can scroll down on your timeline to look at, they also host live global scheduled meets. These are online discussions that occur monthly with a different theme each month. This is an excellent way for educators to collaborate with other teachers and gain more information about online tools. Overall, I would definitely check out these hashtags if you are interested in them.
