Why You Should Use Immersive Reader in Your Elementary Classroom

Immersive Reader is a free application that is great for students who need extra support in class. This application is already built into your education 365 account on Microsoft, all you have to do to access it is to open a word document and it will be under the view bar. I feel that this would be a great tool to use in my future elementary classroom. I plan on teaching second grade and I feel that children at that age would benefit from a tool that allows them to listen as and follow along with the readings and followed by many more exciting features. This tool can be very beneficial when children are doing at home learning. This allows them to do all the work and develop their understanding themselves.

There are many benefits from this tool. This tool can help children with things like:

  • Provides helpful instruction through the application
  • Develops abilities of reading and comprehending on online sources
  • This application can also help dyslexic non-native speakers by helping their reading comprehension improve

Why do I believe this is a good application?

I believe that this is a useful application to use in the classroom because, as technology is evolving in the outside world, it also is in the classroom. Covid-19 has also had an enormous impact in expanding the use of technology in every classroom. Since many children are now doing alot of online learning, parents or supervisors can’t always support their learning. This application supports the child enough for them to learn without the help of an adult. I definitely would use this in my classroom so that every student gets the chance to be supported while other students are being helped by the teacher. This tool allows students to gain independence while doing it by themselves.
