Microsoft’s inclusive Translator tool

After reading chapter 2 in Sail the C’s textbook, I learned how inclusive Microsoft Translator is in educator. Translator is a tool that can help address the needs of every student and parent. By using Translator, students who do not speak the dominant language can view content in their native language on their school website. This allows for students and parents to stay updated and connected to school news and events.

Welcome Picture

Translator is a great tool in the classroom for students to academically succeed. The tool is built into Word, Immersive reading and OneNote which allows students to translate course content and information in a timely fashion. Having Translator built into classroom tools prevents students that speak a different language from fall behind in their work. This creates an effective and inclusive learning environment for all students regardless of language spoken.

Furthermore, Microsoft Translator fosters parent involvement in education too. School districts can take advantage of the Translator app in school meetings with parents. The app allows for parents to effectively communicate with the school staff regarding their children’s performances. Parents that do not speak the dominant language can ask questions and comment in their native language. Translator removes the language barrier between many homes and schools and allows all parents to stay engaged in their children’s learning.

    Joshua,
I really enjoyed your blog post about Microsoft Translator. When reading this chapter, there was a school mentioned that did this exact thing. They brought the translator into parent/faculty meetings to easier understand each other. Before this, it was challenging to spread the word throughout the district due to how many different languages were spoken throughout the district. Thank you for sharing!

    Hello Joshua,
Microsoft Translator is such an amazing tool in my opinion. It benefits so many people in education and beyond. I believe that this is especially useful for English language learners and teachers should definitely consider utilizing this tool in the classroom. I totally agree with your point of how this can also be inclusive during parent meetings for school administrators to utilize. As a future teacher, I know that this is a tool that I will certainly be using for my students, to communicate with parents, etc. Awesome blog post, by the way! I enjoyed reading it.
