Usually when we think online tools in a course about education, we strictly only identify them in terms of how they can be used in the classroom. Sway for example is a tool I learned about which acts as a large, interactive presentation that scrolls either up and down or side to side. You can even embed videos, photos, websites, and text into it. It can be accessed on computers, mobile devices, tablets, and other general consumer devices. The smother “flow” as described in the book makes it more interactive and pleasant than a PowerPoint Presentation.

The example of Sway that I found interesting however was how it was used by former UK educator Lee Whitmarsh. Lee was able to have his students scan in various artifacts such as pictures, songs, audio recordings, text, and other objects which were then transferred into Sway. This collection of these memories allowed for dementia patients and their families to recall events and memories in a format that is always accessible. In addition, family members can always add their own files and memories onto the existing Sway. I was surprised to see an educational tool be used as a literal memory bank, but it is really comforting when a family member with dementia can no longer remember certain events.

In short, I love how Sway can be used to make clean, easy to access scrap booking online to keep memories forever.
