Collaboration tools to use in online learning

It seems as though virtual learning is our new normal, it is crazy to think we would be at a place like this so soon. Collaborating with students and having students collaborate with each other can be very difficult through a computer screen. This article shows a variety of different web and collaboration tools that can be used to help collaborative learning with students from across the world.

I will be adding my responses and feedback to what I read to help give you a different perspective on these global collaboration tools.

What are some online collaborative tools mentioned in the article?

The article mentioned a few different programs that can be used to help with collaborative learning. Some being…

  • Microsoft Teams – I personally found this tool to be very helpful to collaborate with my coworkers when we were all working virtually. I loved that you could connect with people directly in your group by tagging them so they will get notified, but also have the rest of the group see it when they are back on Microsoft Teams. Although I have never used this tool to communicate with people across the globe I think it would still work wonderfully for it.
  • Zoom – I used zoom for majority of my classes when school went virtually. I also used it for around 10 hours each week for my job. I think zoom is an incredible tool to use to connect with people. Zoom allows you to share your own screen, write like you are writing on a whiteboard, talk to one another, view each others faces, as well as much more. Zoom is the closest feel I have gotten to a real classroom since this pandemic started.
This video is explaining how to use and access zoom. It shows you all of the basics to this program.

More online collaborative tools

Some more online global collaborative tools that were not mentioned that I also recommend are…

  • Google Meets
  • Skype
  • Google Docs
  • Creatopy
  • Dropbox

Although these are just a few examples of global collaborative tools I can guarantee you there are countless of more and more that are being made everyday.

Online school has been a bit of a struggle for students, teachers, and parents. This video shows how to keep kids working together although they are on a computer.

Online school was so unexpected for everyone. The adjustments that were made had to happen quick, most people did not know how school was going to continue never mind how we were going to keep working collaborative together to get things achieved. With these collaborative learning tools it was much easier for everyone involved. All of these programs have worked in online classrooms all over the world to provide them with the best possible education they could get in such a rough time. I can see these tools being used well after the pandemic to keep in touch or talk to people from different places around the world to get their perspectives.
