In today’s world of virtual learning children may be missing out on key experiences that help them understand the world. Global competence is just as important for children as understanding math, language arts, and science. In an article I found it talks about the eight key concepts of global learning. It also discusses ways for teachers to support global learning and global collaboration in their classroom in order to successfully teach students about the world.
8 key concepts to global learning:
- Global leadership
- Interdependence
- Social Justice
- Conflict Resolution
- Diversity
- Values and Perceptions
- Human Rights
- Sustainable Development
This article also discusses how to introduce global learning concepts into the classroom by:
- Talking about world events
- Introducing new cultures to students which encourages curiosity
- Demonstrating that simple actions lead to positive outcomes which help students understand how people’s actions have global consequences, which could also lead to encouraging students that they can have a positive impact on the world
