Issue Cards

After looking and going through We Schools, I was able to come across the Education resource tab, where I discovered Issue Cards. These Global Issue Cards express many issues that the world has been facing today. One side of the digital card addresses a specific situation and there are three discussions questions on the other side that should be talked about. Some of these cards talk about Education, Water, Food, Health, Poverty, etc. What makes each card so unique and educational, would be the connection made with one of the Sustainable Development Goals.

The first card talks about poverty affecting a student’s education. Therefore, the fourth Sustainable Development Goal was the best connection, which ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all. To add, there are many facts that are brought to the reader’s attention that relate to the discussion questions. These questions are more opinionated on how the student would plan to take action to solve the global issue.

I plan on incorporating this into my future classroom because this activity would teach and engage the students. They would be able to collaborate and communicate their different thoughts and actions. In previous assignments, I have mentioned that I wanted to start each class with a brain jogger and with these questions requiring an opinion, the students would be able to put all of their ideas down. Some of these cards would be able to connect to some of the lessons and get the students thinking! This is a great idea!
