Zoo Animal Virtual Field Trip

Pictured above is a monkey in a Zoo setting.

This week I researched using zoo’s live camera streaming as a virtual field trip aid. One of the trips I enjoyed most throughout school was going to the zoo. I think for children it is so important for them to explore how our world has so much to offer in terms of life. This website allows people to watch live streams of some of the Smithsonian National Zoo’s best attractions. They have camera footage of the naked mole rat house, the lion’s cage, the panda’s habitat and the elephant’s habitat. By clicking on anyone of these links it brings you to a page with live footage from one or two separate cameras that are set up facing the inside of each habitat. I would love to eventually use live camera footage like this in my own classroom.
