The Virtual Field Trip to Ellis Island is comprised of 10 stops. The expedition begins with information about immigrants making the journey to America and ends with reunited families finishing a long journey at The Kissing Post. The 10 interactive stops are:

  • 1st stop -The Passage
  • 2nd stop -The Arrival
  • 3rd stop -The Baggage Room
  • 4th stop -The Stairs
  • 5th stop- The Registry Room
  • 6th stop- The Medical Room
  • 7th stop -The Legal Inspection
  • 8th stop -Detainees
  • 9th stop- The Stairs of Separation
  • 10th stop -The Kissing Post

The passage stop is is where an immigrants journey began. The Arrival stop is where the Statue of Liberty is placed, which greeted incoming immigrants . The Baggage Room is where passengers checked their possessions. The Stairs stop is where the immigration process would begin. The Registry Room is where people would await inspection. The Medical Room is where people who were deemed ill were marked. The Legal Inspection stop is where immigrants had to answer 29 questions correctly- no errors allowed! The Detainees stop was where some immigrants were held for special inquiry and additional questioning. The Stairs of Seperation was where immigrants were seperated by destination. And the final stop was The Kissing Post which was were immigrants and their families were reunited.
