빈첸조

This week I watched a Netflix Original called “빈첸조”, which in English, is Vincenzo. It follows a Korean boy named Park Joo-hyung who becomes adopted by Italian mob boss, Fabio Cassano and renamed Vincenzo.  Vincenzo became an Italian lawyer, consigliere for the mafia, and one of Fabio’s best men until he wore out his welcome and was almost killed by his step brother Paolo.

This show releases an episode weekly on Netflix, which you can find here. As well as a trailer on Youtube that you can find here. If deciding to watch on Netflix, you will need to use subtitles as it is filmed in South Korea, however watching Vincezo’s journey to reclaim his fortune from the mafia is worth it.

A show I would compare it to would be The Sopranos, which is also about the Italian Mob. The Soprano’s as well as many other mafia based shows and movies takes place in my area so there are many similarities between them and my life. While watching Vincenzo I noticed that there was a lot more comedy in it than most shows I would compare it to. In the show, Vincenzo would eat traditionally Korean foods, as that is where he is, where by me and in films we traditionally eat pastas and meats. The only differences I find from this show and if it would be made in America would be the culture or setting of where they are. You can take the plot and the main structure of events in the show and virtually make it fit in any culture.

I would recommend this show heavily, I really enjoyed it and cannot wait for the next episode.
