Have you ever watched a television show or movie that was not in English or your first main language? This week I watched an Italian movie off Netflix. I was able to add the subtitles in to be able to better understand what is going on. I suggest you give it a try! I didn’t really think I would enjoy this and begin to become frustrated with reading subtitles or switching the language over, however I really liked it!

I decided to watch the Netflix movie, Under the Riccione Sun. The movie was completely in Italian and started off with the main character who is blind and proceeds to go on vacation with his mother to the town of Riccione. While there he finds a group of friends that help him find love through a phone app. As the movie goes on, he meets a girl and falls in love in the summer until something is revealed that changes everything. I highly suggest this move! While watching this film, I saw many different cultural aspects that does not occur here in the United States. This movie took place in the summer so the weather was beautiful and the characters were wearing clothing that resembled their personalities which was not too different from how we dress here in the states. While watching the film, I noticed that they never really sat and had a full meal, it mostly took place at a classic Italian beach bar. It resembled a beach party that we are used to, however had Its differences. These characters valued their relationships and bonds made with not only each other romantically, but with their friends who got them to that point.
