Out Of Eden Connected Learning Space

A tool I researched to fit in a Preschool through 12th grade learning space was Out Of Eden Learn. This website provides connections for prek-12 students to explore the world around them. Personally, I place an exceptional amount of importance on being globally connected. I feel as though the more connected we are as a globe the more conflict we can avoid and the more we can learn.

People connected all over the globe.

The Out of Eden Learn tool allows virtual classrooms to connect all around the world. This is a neat tool for students to gain global awareness. I chose this tool and website because I feel like it’s really important to open students eyes about the places around them. For a while I believed places across the sea were third world countries and they were super underdeveloped. This formed because of our medias portrayal of these countries but also because no one ever taught me that there’s tools to visit other places virtually and through a classroom setting. However, after reading a book the summer before my freshman year of college I realized that America as a country projects an image of being the most developed when in reality we have the tools at our finger tips to explore the world around us and form our own opinions. I would use this tool during a social studies lesson to explore the world. I would repeatedly have assignments where the students would have to explain or write about the changes happening in classrooms around the world and hopefully this would create a lifelong interest in the world around us.
