Color Changing Sutures

A senior in high school has created color changing sutures that are purposed to detect infection. When I found this article, I was immediately impressed by the accomplishments of Dasia Taylor. Her sutures work by changing colors when they detect a rise in pH, which is the initial warning that there is an oncoming infection. Dasia entered her project into the Junior Science and Humanities Symposium in March 2020, she is now one of 40 finalist that started with over 1,000 entries.
