Overview

The tool that I have chosen to explore from the Global educator’s toolbox is a platform called TakingITGlobal. This platform allows students to tackle issues that are faced throughout the world by collaborating with other youth members. Essentially, I chose this tool because it captured my interest. This allows young students to experience rewarding projects that they will remember for the rest of their life. As a teacher, I hope to use this tool. 

How Is It Useful?

This is a useful tool because it contributes to the areas of youth development, youth action, social movements, and societal values. Essentially, this will enhance students’ awareness about global issues and allow them to become a part of working to change injustices that are being faced around the globe. 

How Would I Use It In My Classroom?

As a future English teacher, I hope to create social and service projects that relate to the curriculum. Most schools have a world literature portion during English classes. I remember during my senior year of high school, my teacher had introduced us to several works written by authors of different ethnicities and races. I believe that this tool will go hand in hand as students can learn about cultures that they are reading about while also partaking in useful projects. Furthermore, this would also be beneficial to my students’ social and moral development as they learn about values and ethics.
