In this first section of the website, it talks about a storyteller who set out on an adventure to trace back global migration. Paul Salopek took on this 21,000 mile adventure, and walked through many places where people migrated out of Africa during the stone age. All of the milestones Paul hit were many historical events and stories. I will be talking about three milestones in chapter two.

Chapter 2: Holy Lands

Milestone 11: Overpass:

This milestone was on day 136, and the first thing I discovered was a picture of the trail north. In the picture there are two people, two camels, and a few trees.. other than that the surroundings are empty. The only thing around was a highway where people were passing through traveling at about 80 mph.

Milestone 12: The Hejaz:

Milestone 12 was on day 157, and in this milestone the land they had moved across was lonely, more aggressive and hostile. They originally passed over this milestone but then back tracked, It was very hot and the wind was blowing strong. They came across a guy who is an assistant to the governor of Rabigh and is also apart of the Harbi tribe. He is 28 years old and had come from Rabigh, Saudi Arabia.

Milestone 13: Bedouin Country

The last milestone I discovered was on day 256, the land had more trees, hills and people. They met a guy named Naji Sureiman Slayim, he is a camel and sheep herder. There are only 10 people living in this area, him, his father and mother, three brothers, two sisters, and his brothers’ wives and children. He was born and grew up there his whole life, his family like it and do not want to move because the roads are bad. If they had more money they would want to buy more camels.

Overall, this website can be beneficial for people who want to learn more about a journey like this. It allows you to click on different parts of the page to see helpful information, videos, and images. This shows students how people live around the world, and they are able to explore all of the different milestones he hit as if they were there themselves. I would recommend this to anyone, it is a great source to use in the classroom!
