Out of Eden Walk

It was 2013, when Paul Salopek decided to take a journey to retrace the steps of those who migrated before us. He tells us a story made of many smaller stories through pictures, videos, words and more.

In chapter one, out of Africa where the journey starts Paul finds man-made wells. In this desert, people use wells to gather water for drinking and bathing. Water, which is so accessible to us in America today, is a wonderful commodity when you are such a long journey. He walks near graves marked by stones that can be used to navigate.

In chapter three, Paul walks through the Northern Cyprus what now referred to as a ghost land. A war between northern and southern Cyrus caused most of the population to migrate to neighboring countries such as Turkey. He then travels through many Asian countries before he arrives in the fertile southern Asia. He walks the Irrawaddy River where homes are built on stilts to protect from potential water damage.

In Chapter 5, Paul reaches the Himalayas but soon pauses his journey in sight of the covid-19 pandemic. I find this story quite remarkable and interesting, I wanted to continue to read on but Paul is still in progress. I plan to continue to follow his journey as he continues. I highly suggest following his story to anyone because it is a wonderful modern take on history.
