A virtual field trip to the Scenic Normandy, France gives a glimpse into the beautiful architecture and beaches that Northern France is famous for.
Normandy is known as the site of the D-Day invasion during World War II, where British, U.S., and Canadian forces invaded the beaches of Nazi-occupied France.

The American deaths that occurred during this invasion are recognized during the virtual trip with a visit to the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorial.

With Catholic influence, the European Gothic and Renaissance architecture is popular in Normandy, shown in buildings such as the Benedictine Palace.

My favorite part of the virtual trip was to the Stairway to Chateau Gaillard. The Castle was built on the orders of Richard I, also known as Richard the Lionheart, King of England, in the 12th century. Having been a rushed project built in only two years, it was one of the strongest castles of its time.
Richard was the Duke of Normandy, and had the castle built in a strategic location in order to protect his Duchy against the advances of King Philip II of France.
Overall, the trip provided a coup d’œil into the stunning historical sites that will remain famous for centuries to come.
