BLOG 5: My Twitter Experience

Hello and welcome back! I hope you are having a great week so far.

This blog will be about my experience with twitter. Let me just inform you that I have never used twitter before this and I am still getting used to it.

Let’s get straight to it! My experience with twitter:

My thoughts: When I first started with twitter I was confused. Not only did I not understand how to follow people, but I also didn’t understand where my profile was, how to create my profile and what a hashtag was! Let’s just say I was a mess! However, as time progressed, I set up my profile and had completed my first tweet! I didn’t understand at first how to follow people and why it was important; now I understand that I am following educators from all around their globe and I’m learning a lot from that. I see how hashtags connect conversations and allow for people to follow topics! However, the main thing I have realized is how friendly the education community is on twitter. They are so willing to help out and give their ideas and opinions and I love it!

Social media space conversations affecting the way I think about learning: At first I had a general idea of what teaching and learning were. After talking to a lot of these professionals and hearing stories and opinions in the classroom I realized that there is so much more to learn about learning and educating your students. For example I have never seen someone using Minecraft in the classroom but twitter has so many examples form other educators and how they use these games in the classroom! It truly shows me that learning to be an educator is a never-ending process and that it is always evolving. There is no right way to teach, but there are many ways to teach!

Significant things I have learned: While I have only been on twitter for a little over a month I have learned so much! I have learned that there is so much involved in teaching. It’s not all lesson plans, its communicating, being hands-on, and reaching out to others. I have seen so many people comment on each other’s tweets with feedback and advice. It’s so nice to know that there is somewhere to go for help when I need it! I have learn that I shouldnt be scared to ask for advice and get feedback. I have learned that there are other ways to do things than just what I have been taught. I have learned so much in one month by using twitter.

I hope you enjoyed my blog!
