About

Just how well do we know Lake Fred?

He’s the handsome subject of numerous Instagram photos taken at sunset, but he’s more than just a scenic landscape that students pass daily on their way to class. He’s home to a diversity of plant and animal life, making him the perfect outdoor classroom for not only those studying the natural environment, but to all current and prospective students, alumni and their families, parents, community members and visitors.

The Stockton Biodiversity trail project seeks to raise awareness of campus biodiversity along the pathways of Lake Fred. Trail guides that highlight a selection of campus biodiversity are now available on the Light Path and online.

The Stockton Biodiversity blog serves as a platform to connect nature enthusiasts with resources that will help them to learn more about the flora and fauna of Stockton University’s Pinelands campus.

Blog posts highlight campus critters, unique nature sightings, and student/faculty research projects through stories, photos and videos. If you’ve captured an image or have a story idea, contact the blog editor, Susan Allen, at Susan.Allen@Stockton.edu.

There is also an Instagram account, @StocktonBiodiversity.
