Global Learning is very important as it also stresses the importance of professional learning and collaboration. Global Learning is something that is becoming more taught and made aware of across the world constantly every day.

Conferences and face to face events is what expands the use and awareness of Global Learning. The Global Education Conference is one that connects all types of students and educators with each other to help establish global collaboration and connecting classrooms which is very important. There are tons of conferences and virtual communities across the world that do their part and job in teaching and stressing the importance of Global Learning. There is what is known as the “Our Global Friendships,” which is a small community virtually of global collaborative educators that’s learn and help each other sharing their unique new ideas with each other.

Face to Face interactions are also a very key aspect of expanding Global Learning and one that seems most intriguing to me is the THINK Global School. This school moves across the world and learns in whatever place it is as its own school. This school is putting itself in new cultures and putting the teachers and students through ne w experiences. The school travels and moves to a new place every semester and this requires a new curriculum and learning outcomes, because this is what is different in every location. This is why it is so interesting to me as it clearly shows these students and teachers how learning is so different in places across the world and how it is important to know these things.

There are other programs such as Global STEM Education Center, the Centre for Global Education, and the VIF International Education and VIF Learning Center. These programs are all increasing students skills in the global world as well as making the educators and students involved more aware and familiar with everything that goes into Global Education and Global Learning. These programs, conferences, and Face to Face interactions are all very important for furthering this movement of Global Learning because it can be so effective for those who do not have access to schools, and virtual education is their only chance of making it in the real world comfortably.

Thank you for tuning in t another blog as this one was the last one but no other way to better finish by summing up current ways to get involved in Global learning and how it is being taught across the world.

Virtual Reality in Education

Hello everyone and I hope everyone is safe and ready for another blog! This week I will be exploring Virtual Reality in education and talk about Google Cardboard and what is used with it in education.

See the source image

Google Cardboard is a platform used for virtual reality that was made and developed by Google. The platform encourages use and helps bring interest into the virtual reality world by allowing application that are compatible with the Google Cardboard. This piece of cardboard allows anyone to take part and experience virtual reality which is always a fun new entertaining experience. Using this platform is very easy, as you download the Google Cardboard app on your phone and then just place your phone in the Cardboard where it holds it, and then the world is yours to explore!

See the source image

Google Cardboard can very easily be used in the Education field, and the one app that reaches out and intrigues me the most is easily Google Expeditions. As you readers know, I have mentioned how I am a history major, and there are tons on places around the world I would love to visit and explore. Google Expeditions allows you to tour and be put into virtual reality with any place and will make you feel like you are at that very place.

With that being said, I can constantly use virtual reality in the classroom as I can constantly take my students to places that we are studying, so they can see what the old historical buildings look like that we are studying.

See the source image

Virtual reality can be something very effective and useful for Global Collaboration, as this is a way you and someone across the world can be viewing and studying at the same time. You and your Global Collaboration partner can be working on the same project, and be studying and looking at things at the same time through virtual reality. Virtual reality can be something that even takes Global Collaboration to new heights as you and someone else can be physically looking and examine something that you both are studying and share your thoughts and ideas as you are both looking in this virtual world.

See the source image

Virtual reality is something that can even further the heights of Global Collaboration and make new things possible. Virtual Reality in the classroom and in Global Education is definitely something to keep an eye on as it will definitely make a contribution in the years to come.

The Historic Season

Hello everyone, thank you for tuning in to another blog and this week yet again I tried something new. Using Animoto, I told the story of my last lacrosse season in high school in 2017. This app is very useful as it allows you to tell a story from an inside or outside perspective through the use of photos, videos, and being able to add side effects such as music.

I currently play lacrosse at Stockton University as it is something that I am most passionate about in life. I absolutely love lacrosse and everything that goes along with being apart of a team. I was also fortunate enough to be apart of something very special in high school being apart of this team. The year was full of breaking records and reach new highs in school history. As a team we were one of the top teams in the state losing in the state championship by 1, however we still had the most wins in a season in school history as well as went the furthers in the state tournament as well as the county tournament in school history.

The power of this story telling app is very powerful as it allows you to re-tell and re-capture a great story or memory. It allows you to have full ability to customize anything and create the story in any way you want. it was a great experience using something like this as It is very easy to use regardless of your previous experience with an app like this. This is an app that I am happy I have now used as I can easily see myself using again in the future regardless of what it may be as it allows you to cover a memory and make something that is meaningful to you. It may be a wedding, story of your son, or even a story of your college experience, however, regardless of what the story is the app allows you to create a story in a meaningful and powerful way that thinks outside the box. Lacorsse is something that means a lot to me and granted my first story I created may have not been great as it was my first time using the app, however it was something that I enjoyed and meant a lot to me and that is what matters.

Being able to create a story using an app is something that everyone can use in their life at sometime and I hope everyone give Animoto a try! Thank you for reading yet another blog!

Out of Eden Walk: Where did I Go?

Hello everyone! Hope everyone is safe and their families are safe during this pandemic. During this crisis, I was able to explore a project called “Out of Eden Walk.” This is where Paul Salopek went on a 21,000 mile journey in a decade. Paul was exploring where the first humans who migrated out of Africa during the Stone Age, as he covered the complete path and everything that goes along with this journey of migrating across the globe. There were three specific parts of the journey that interested me more then others that I went in depth on, and I will be talking about them here!

See the source image

The first place I went in to explore in the journey was the Holy Lands which include Saudi Arabia, Jordan, West bank, and Israel. The reason this certain part of the journey sparked an interest in me is due to my personal interest. I am a history major and aspire to become a history teacher, as I enjoy history. This certain part of the world is an area that I have studied great depths in and all of the ancient history that has taken place in this part of the world. The Middle East has been a place where I have studied and still study today with what is currently going on. I enjoyed reading the specific article about the Children’s Crusade. Where 800 years ago Europe ships had armies of kids shipped to the promise land to convert and conquer the land, and then the merchants actually sold the children into slavery. This can be a great website to use for my classroom and specifically if I cover this area of the world, as there was a bunch of good information on the culture and certain things that took place in this part of the world.

See the source image

The part of the journey that I explored was the Silk Roads. The Silk Roads are one of the most important aspect of history as it was able to connect countries from China and the Middle east to Europe. These roads opened up the world into a new era of the world starting to connect countries with their different cultures. Also, these roads were so important as this is where armies would travel and go on their conquests. A lot of the articles were interesting here but I enjoyed Passage to Another Time.” Reading about his interactions with the people from those lands and to hear about their culture was something good to read. Especially in this article, it was a 9 hour walk to exit Afghanistan, as he goes on the mountain and looks at the horizon and sees the gateway to Pakistan. Paul went through a bunch of different cultures and experiences tons of different things on this road, as he tried the Foods of the Gods which where the Himalayan shrub. I also enjoyed the article talking about where Butter is actually buried as gold in Pakistan and it is stashed underground for decades. These articles show how different the world is from different lenses across the globe.

See the source image

The place I explored was the Autumn Wars, which included Cyprus, Turkey, Georgia, and Azerbaijan. Paul explores some of the very oldest agriculture lands in Turkey which were so important in history, he explores Bronze Age ruins and a bunch of medieval cities. However, that was some great history that I enjoy studying and was cool to read about, however the thing I enjoyed the most about was how he ran into the refugees from the Syrian Civil war. This is something that I can use in the future in my classes. Being able to share the stories that Paul shared and the information that eh shared as he is a primary source will be something great for students to read. It is always more interesting to read something when they are actually there, especially when it is something like this interactive website and virtual tour. The current problems in the Middle East are issues that were still going on during Paul’s exploration, and the fact that he was able to cover it firsthand is something that can be a create historical account.

This is something that I would love for everyone to view as this website is a great platform of an interactive type of teaching that will spark an interest regardless of who you are. There is great information here and some crazy things to read about!

Where did I travel for my spring break?

Hello everyone, thank you tuning in to another blog during crazy times during the current crisis. However, this week was a great week, as for my spring break, I VIRTUALLY traveled to Rome.

Yes, this week for my class assignment, we had to make a google map on somewhere we would want to travel too, and of course I chose Rome. Rome is such a great historical city that has so much culture to it due to its history, and in my visit, I traveled the three places that I find most interested.

Visit Destination 1: The Colosseum

For my first visit in Rome, of course I went to the Colosseum. This is the first building that most people think about when they think about ancient Rome and their history. As a history major, I absolutely love Rome and their history and this is a building that I would love to see in my life time. This building hosted so many gladiator events as well as animal hunts, and seated thousands and thousands of spectators. Just such an insane and different time to think about on how this is their source of entertainment.

Visit Destination 2: Theatre of Marcellus

This was a theatre that was originally planned and prepared to be built by Julius Caesar, however he was murdered before the building started to be constructed. This theatre was for the end of the Roman Republic and was held for everyone in Rome to come and spectate dramas and songs. This is somewhere where I would love to tour and just put myself in their shows as this is where thousands of years ago people gathered just liked we do to watch a certain performance.

Visit Destination 3: Ara Pacis

The last destination that I had to visit was the great altar that honored Augustus on his return to Rome from Gaul, and this Altar was of Pax, who was the Roman Goddess of peace. To think how everything was back then, in 13 BC, and how they worshipped certain people that they believed were certain gods and goddesses just strikes me as so fascinating. During such a different time, and such a long time ago, they still worshipped their own statues. I would love to take a picture with the altar and it is something that hopefully I can do eventually.

That will do it for this week. Thank you for tuning in to another blog!

The Framework for Teaching

Hello guys and girls, I am checking back in this week with another blog! This week, I am going to be talking about something that I have recently learned about, that will stay with me the rest of my life!

As someone that is a future educator of our generations to come, it is essential for me to be able to execute perfect lesson plans, and this week, I have learned about Charlotte Danielson’s framework for teaching. This is a lesson plan structure that helps you develop the perfect lesson pla, and there are four domains.

See the source image

Domain 1: Planning and Preparation

This is where the teacher must show her knowledge and pedagogy in this time of preparing her lesson plan. You must give extensive thought to how you will be teaching what you are teaching. This is where you will be setting your learning outcomes of the lesson nd what it is exactly that you want your students to get out of your lesson.

See the source image

Domain 2: The Classroom Environment

This is where you must establish and have set an optimal learning environment for your students. You must have an open line of communication with you and your students, and encourage student to student communication as well. Classroom management is also essential here as this is where you have to make sure your classroom is running smoothly and make sure that your students have great behavior. You will also have arrange your classroom and set up your class correctly so each student is physically safe.

See the source image

Domain 3: Instruction

This is where you will be engaging with your students with what you are teaching. Communication is very key here as you must be communicating with your students and engaging with your students as you must encourage participation from each student. You will be giving your students assignments and activities here, and then also have some sort of assessment in place for their learning so you can monitor where each student is in their learning as you MUST be giving feedback to your students.

See the source image

Domain 4: Professional Responsibilities

This is where you will begin your reflection on how your lesson was, and you must be honest here so you can improve yourself for your students. You must be a professional here and see where you could have been better as an educator so you can improve and benefit your students. You also must be keeping an accurate record of your students work and keep an open line of communication up with the students families, as it is so important to keep the parents involve in the students learning progress.

See the source image

That will do it for this weeks blog and I hope that you learning a thing or two! This framework for teaching is so important to know and really understand each domain, as each domain will lead to a perfect lesson plan.

What can you Learn from Watching a Show in another Language?

Hello everyone! This week I will be talking about what you can learn from just watching a TV show that is another language, and how you can pick up on things about the culture from what is going on throughout the show.

I watched Ingobernable, and this show takes place in Mexico and is in Spanish. I decided to watch the last episode of the last season!

The reason I chose to watch a show that was in Spanish, was because I am currently in Intermediate Spanish 2, and learn about the cultures in Spanish speaking countries, so this served as a good way to learn more about the material.

I can tell you from watching this episode, it reemphasizes what we have been learning in our class. My professor, has traveled to a great amount of Spanish speaking countries and knows the differences between the cultures and always shares with us. He has shown us pictures from when he went to Mexico himself, and the setting looked about the same in the show. The buildings are all very close to each other, and they are smaller buildings- it looks like a village. Also, my teacher talks about how their are always a great amount of people on the street walking around, regardless of what time it is, and you can see this in the show as well when people are walking on the sidewalk; almost looked like New York City. The characters were all part of or somehow related to the government of Mexico. The characters looked the same compared to people in the government of the United States. The people looked like they had power, all dressed up in suits and represented authority.

Image result for cities in mexico

You could see multiple similarities between our cultures. There was a time in the episode, where the main character who was a woman, was giving a speech to the city. It reminded me of when there is a rally here in the United States, you had a bunch of people in suits next to the one delivering the speech, and had a great crowd in front that were citizens as well with the media taking pictures. One thing that I noticed was different was how they had their military lined up around the city during the speech. All the members of the military were standing along the buildings with their guns out and were fully suited up like they were ready to go to war. Also, my professor talks about how in Mexico, you show great affection with your family members and kiss them on the cheeks and how their family culture differs from ours with that my professor says.

Image result for mexico military

Overall, you could see a lot of similarities with our culture, have a city with a lot of people, people driving cars, government looking powerful, but their were also some differences that were little but that is what makes cultures different! Also, the TV show was a good watch and very entertaining! You would never believe the ending! What happen was…

My Personal Learning Network Experience

Hello everyone, and thank you for joining me for another blog! Today, I will be talking about my Personal learning Network. Now, you may be asking yourself, what is that? I did not know either until about 5 weeks ago!

My Personal Learning Network is my twitter account where it is a professional account, where I tweet about content related to education and History, as well as I am constantly learning techniques and concepts about teaching as well as learning new information about history.

Image result for education

I have thoroughly enjoyed this new twitter account, as it has been a new experience for me and is a great platform for someone like me, who is a future educator and a current college student, and there is so much for me to learn by using this platform. There are so many great mentors out there and current teachers that share such meaningful information that will help me in my future career as a teacher. These social media conversations I have taken apart of have definitely affected my outlook on learning, because the use of this professional twitter account makes me realize, that you can learn anywhere at anytime. With how our world is today, there is so many different platforms and technology that allows you to learn in so many different ways that seem unimaginable. I have other social media accounts, and never even thought of how there is a possibility of having a professional account where you are apart of a community that is in the same profession as you.

Image result for education

I have learned many different things through this twitter experience, however, there is one tweet that intrigued me a lot, and it is attached here. The tweet is talking about second chances and how essential they are, especially when it comes to your students as they are kids at the end of the day. When you think about your own life, there are countless amounts of times that we made a mistake, and then either received a 2nd chance or not.

Our students are just kids at the end of the day, and letting them have these second chances is so important as this will allow them to grow and learning from their own mistake.

Image result for learning

There is also one more aspect of your Personal Learning Network, which is the Twitter Chat. Twitter Chats are where there is someone that serves as a moderator and holds a chat at a certain time, and everyone will come join the twitter chat using the hashtag and participating in the conversation. This is a great way to learn from so many people that are spread across the globe. I have participated in one twitter chat and it was a great experience and a fun new thing that I have done. Being connected like that with tons of people across the globe, sharing insight about whatever the topic may be, is a fun thing to do. Everyone is there for the same reason which is to share their thoughts and to learn from others.

That will do it for this week’s blog! I hope you will create your own twitter account and let is serve as a Personal Learning Network!

The Power of Education When it Comes to Poverty

Hello everyone, and thank you for joining me yet again for another blog! As you can tell from the title, it is about a very important topic.

Earlier today, I had completed an assignment that covers Sustainable Development, and the part I was most interested in was the Sustainable Development Goals. Sustainable Development is meeting human development goals, while at the same time sustaining the natural resources that our human race must need. The Sustainable Development Goals are 17 goals that all reach the end target/goal, which is the achieve and be able to set up a better future for all.

See the source image

However, within these 17 Sustainable Development Goals, there was one goal that interested me much more then other: No Poverty. I explored much on this topic No Poverty, and even reviewed this lesson plan here that is a great way of introducing and having your students practice their critical thinking by answering questions on No Poverty.

I think the Goal of No poverty is so important, because all around our country our children of the future are in a place that has created tons of barriers in front of them on escaping poverty. One of the most important aspects of trying to escape poverty, is education. An education is so important and one of the most critical aspects of poverty as in places of poverty, kids are not receiving a proper education and do not have a stressed importance on education because they have way too many other things going on in their life just to get by.

See the source image

After doing some research on the correlation between education and poverty, they directly affect each other. If you live in poverty, then you may be forced to drop out of school and fall behind in receiving that essential education. The thing about poverty as well, is it is passed down from generation to generation. For example, if I was born in a poverty area, I would eventually have to maybe drop out of school so I can make money to just pay my rent. This will then happy to my child as they are going to be put in a very similar place as I was not able to escape poverty because I did not receive an education to and get a job somewhere else.

See the source image

I am happy that I was able to create this blog and bring attention to the on going issue of poverty, not just in our country, but for all over the globe. Education plays such a big role in poverty, and it is important to make that widely known so everyone can do the appropriate actions in trying to help these future generations.

The Power of Google Apps in the Classroom

Hello and thank you for joining me another week! Today I will be talking about Google Apps and how these different types of applications from Google are taking over in the classroom s they provide teachers a great way to deliver all types of content.

Google Docs and Google Slides are two of the main applications that I have had to use throughout my education career, however there are many other applications such as Google Sheets. Google Sites is also one that has been used more throughout recent education for me.

Google Docs is a great way to Collaborate with other peers on a certain type of task as you guys can be on the document at the same time completing the task together. Ever since middle school, Google Docs has been used constantly every day to complete work as the teacher can post a Google Doc that everyone can view, and then get to work, it is a great way to encourage online collaboration on an activity! Attached is a video on how you can use Google Docs in the classroom.

Google Slides is also a visual presentation tool that is used by almost all teachers everywhere. It is a great way to visually display your lecture and content as students all over learn better by visually seeing it displayed. This is a very helpful tool for teachers as they can share this presentation with their students, so whenever the students need to access the information they have it available to them! Attached is a basic introduction video on Google Slides for teachers

Google Sites is also a great way of delivering content to your students, is there are many different ways you can develop your site so it can appeal to your students. Google Sites is also very accessible to your students and allows them to review the content at any time. Attached is a Google Site that is sued by another teacher, and you can see by the tons of links that will bring you to a lesson on a certain topic! There are tons of different content being displayed using videos and Google Slide Presentations!

Thank you for reading and Joining me for another blog, follow me on twitter to see good insight on teaching!

I will see you next week!
