I found this wonderful website as I began looking for ways to globally connect to my students, for my future students to connect to others, and for communities/ families to become apart of the “Bigger Picture.”

I decided to incorporate these brain breaks and dance parties in my future classroom to allow my team to become apart of something bigger. We need to look at those global goals and strive to make positive changes for our future generations. In 2030, I wanted to be sure I could say, and my students could voice their opinions on how they impacted the world in a better way. This website fell into my lap at the right time because my “students” or my “children” are given the opportunity to make big changes for our world.

You can check out your dashboard report for your team. Once you are on that page, these three icons will pop up. This is a great way to have students get more engaged and excited to become apart of a global change. Coach Sunny is our class coach. She is an avatar that shares messages with us to let us know what we need to complete or help. You can find your coach under the messages tab. This is above the Tasks tab. If you venture to the task tap you will find that you can favorite videos, see how many clips you have watched in a row, and pick how you can make an impact.

A1-RUTF: Malnourished children need important vitamins and minerals for survival just like any child, but someone that lacks those proper food sources can become sick, tired, and possibly be prone to more diseases. In order to provide quick, lasting and proper nutritional supplements, due to their lack of regular food consumption, these packets provide the heightened value of those important resources. Every time our class or one of the students earn Kid Power Up coins they accumulate to one RUTF packet. The children on both sides of this equation are benefiting. The child doing the activity will be able to become more empathetic and more engaged, knowledgeable, and responsible for providing another with important food sources. The other child that is on the receiving end of the line, he or she, will be able to survive, and/or make a full come back to a better, nourished life.

A2-There are so many hidden features that I could not explain all in one sitting, this is why I gave extra links, videos, and images throughout this blog to highlight the focus points, but allowed for more exploring. This website, UNICEF-KID POWER-UPS, offers children to become apart of the bigger picture and create a positive impact on our world.

A3-We can always do more to help. This is just one example that I thought I could fit in home environments, at school, and in community settings. If you are school partners already and are able to spread awareness you can become partners with others. On their website, you can find the map of all the accounts, families, and schools that participate in the United States. You can become friends with other schools and recommend others to become friends with your account.

A4- This website has ways to make global changes not just with food and ending hunger, but with planting trees and within health care systems. These are multiple global goals that are so crucial to change for the year 2030. In order to achieve better outcomes for those goals in the future years, Kid Power Ups, planting trees, and providing health care with these fun videos and resources are simple tasks as individuals that add up when we work together for the greater good.

***Another bonus, Kid Power Ups offer individual KID POWER UP bands. These bands are similar to a mild version of a Fitbit. These bands provide more incentives to the participation quality and unlock more special features for students to achieve, which means more food for the other children. This feature does cost more, BUT teachers or schools are able to request funds for these if the school budget is unable to meet the needs or required payments. In order to purchase and get a discount, you need to buy 20 Bands or more to receive a 25% off. You can also go to Families in the U.S.A. which can participate by purchasing a UNICEF Kid Power Band online, and at  Target.com  and in-store. The ability to give free Kid Power Bands to classrooms is entirely dependent on how much funding their company receives from sponsors. You can also promote, or fundraise this in your own town or school to help provide the schools with accessibility for use of these bands. You can purchase bands for your school or program individually too.

The AWESOME news is that 100% of the funds that UNICEF Kid Power receives from in-app purchases go to RUTF!
