Google earth tools is possibly the most incredible journey one can take from the comfort of their living room. With the steady increase in available and focus towards both VR and AR alike the innovations that follow will continue to shock and awe. To create perspective my early days of learning were not the technological powerhouse they are today. No smart boards, no PowerPoints and even very few projectors. My classes of yesterday saved technology for 40 minutes a week when the “Technology” teacher wheeled in the desktop to our classrooms. Today students can all but travel the world. Google earth tour allows for its user to defy most laws of gravity and time and space, basically becoming a Jet with endless fuel. These technologies can take kids to places two dimensional print just cant compete with. This tech is creating engagement that was thought to be impossible. Geography lesson can be learned by near touch. This is a tool that allows for deep dives with minimal investment. perhaps the VR will be wheeled in classrooms soon. For me the experience that is available is undeniable.
