How Can VR Contribute To Successful Global Collaborations?

Virtual reality is often misunderstood by people and how to properly use it. VR is best used individually. It allows students to learn at their own pace, while attaining as much information as possible. Veative is a VR platform that can be used in classrooms. It allows students to focus on certain aspects of the lesson at their own pace. Platforms like Veative can contribute to successful global collaborations because it will allow students to improve their understandings of what is truly going on in the world and what people around the globe are doing to contribute. Veative will allow students to learn about the importance of those around us in an untraditional way, which will make it more interesting for students to globally collaborate with others.

In this video it shows how VR is used in the classroom when used. This will help better your understanding of how VR can be implemented in any aspect of life really. Take a look! https://youtu.be/L9g-y2fLG6g?si=AKqSzmORlGQ90fDr

In our global goals project we connected with those around us via video. With VR we can connect with those around the world and feel like we are in the same room as them. This will build bigger connections and allow students to understand what other people are going through. This form of global collaboration will only allow students to build skills that there is so much to be learned about globally. Informative global videos will only become more interesting to its audience and will allow people to be as create as they wish on connecting with others about global issues.

Exciting Tools To Use In the Classroom

Technology has helped people greatly when it comes to staying organized and on top of things. In my future classroom I would love to use a virtual calendar that can be accessed by every student and parent. This is a great way to keep students informed of what is expected of them fo that month. It allows students to gain skills when it comes to planning ahead and getting assignments done on time. I love the idea of the virtual calendar because it will never get lost and will always be available. I cannot wait to use this type of calendar and personalize it to the assignments and links I have for my classroom!

Accessibility Tools

As technology improves so do the tools used in the classroom. Everyday there are more and more tools being created to help students have a better learning experience. The technology being created for classrooms also allows more students to be included in lessons. For example, there are hearing tools being created to help those who learn better while listening or are blind. This extension allows students to verbally record their answers, instead of typing them. It also reads the text used in classrooms for them. This is a great way to be inclusive for those who need to listen to material, instead of reading it. Though I do not have any learning disabilities, I learn much better after listening to something. This will be great in the classroom!

Hyperdocs!

As technology is advancing, it is extremely hard to keep students engaged in lessons. Hyperdocs is a way to keep the lesson exciting and moving. Within the lesson there are links embedded into the lesson plan, which leads to different moving parts of the lesson. Hyperdocs is a great way for students to become interactive and click links that allow them to share their thoughts within the lesson. The image below is an example of what a hyperdoc is! The document is divided into different lesson plans for different subjects. The lesson I decided to use as an example is Astronomy. In this lesson there are multiple links within the slides that lead to videos and question about the lesson in Astronomy. This is a great tool to you in your classroom to keep students involved and interested in the lesson.

My Field Trip to the 9/11 Tribute Museum

September 11, 2001 is one of the most traumatic days the United States have been through. Thousands of people have lost their lives due to the terrorist attack. Families and friends still suffer from the loss that 9/11 has caused them. When taking a virtual tour of the 9/11 Tribute Museum you can feel the emotion and heartbreak through the images and names of people remembered. The museum also has firemen suits that were used during the terrorist attack. The 9/11 Tribute Museum is filled will emotion and stories that help people understand the extremes when facing this terrorist attack. It helps explain the many questions kids have today for what went on during 9/11. It was a great experience to go through all those emotions and witness from a far of what people went through.

Microsoft Forms

After reading chapter 2 and learning about many different forms of communication, my favorite part was checking in on your students mental health using Microsoft Forms. It is so important to check in on the people around you no matter what is going on, especially if they are your students. Microsoft Forms allows students to fill out how they feel through the form and send it to their teacher. This allows students to have private conversations with their teachers, while sharing how they feel. This will build not only great communication within the classroom, but love and trust as well. It is so important to think about the people around you and Microsoft Forms makes that happen!

BU Teaching Africa, What Is It?

It is very important to incorporate lessons that have to do with realities outside of the United States and what your students are not used to. BU Teaching Africa is a great website that provides lesson plans for all ages to learn about Africa. The website has tools that allow you to click on the ages of students you are teaching and what corresponding lesson/activities are appropriate for the age group. The website also includes helpful questions to ask your students to get their brains going on what they already know about Africa. Asking questions is a great tool to create a learning atmosphere for learning students. This website is so useful and easy for teachers because it even has projects and lesson plans pre-made for teachers to use in their classrooms. BU Teaching Africa is a great tool to teach students about the different cultures and realities that are present when entering other countries, such as Africa.

Collaboration in Education and the Real World

Collaborative learning is a great source for classrooms to use. It allows students to share their ideas with other peers. It also encourages students to talk to their teachers. It builds confidence for students to share whats on their minds no matter who it is. Collaboration is a great way for students to teach one another and learn from each others mistakes. Collaborative learning creates higher learning levels and imagination for students because of each unique idea each student has. Students are also able to divide and conquer while working together and collaborating. They are able to learn that teamwork is the best way to accomplish anything. Collaboration is a great idea that students and teachers should take advantage of when it comes to implementing it into their daily lesson plans.

Collaboration can be applied in the real world as well, not just the classroom. Collaboration is described as “a life well lived”. Collaboration will forever be a part of our lives as human beings. Collaboration is applied in jobs, business, and family. Some people fear working in groups, but collaboration is actually effortless. When people choose to have a family, both spouses must work together and collaborate to raise those children. Education and school are environments that expose children to new things that will be used later in life. Collaboration is a major tool that schools have exposed children to and should continue for their benefit.

Inclusive Learning

Throughout people’s education in school inclusive learning is an important strategy that all teachers should be using to benefit their students. After reading and exploring this article, on the cover page of the website it discusses how people come from all different parts of the world and education must be versatile to fit each different student. Inclusive learning allows each student to have their own personal “lesson plan” that allows them to learn to the best of their ability. You can also have AI assist you with creating lesson plans. AI can create plans, but you must review them before sharing it. AI is a great tool to use technology to help you create a new up to date lesson. It also allows students to understand what they are learning and what the end goal is. What I have learned after reading this website is that though it is important for teachers to teach what the school gives them, but they must provide lessons that can fit each and everyone of their students.

This image shows how each student is different, but can learn and come together.
