7 Best Accessibility Tools

With technology rapidly advancing, it’s best to know what tools will help students succeed. After looking into many tools, here are my top 7:

  1. Google Jamboard

Google Jamboard is a collaborate whiteboard. You can work in real time with whomever you share it with. It allows you to work with anyone at any time anywhere. Jamboard promotes creativity and teamwork. It works with Google services, for example you can use the Talkback feature or add google images. This tool can be useful to so many when planning, or jotting down ideas and notes. Teachers can use this feature in their classrooms.

2. Microsoft Reading Progress

I found this tool super interesting. A teacher will assign their class a reading. The program records their audio and visual. When the student finishes reading, the Ai will assess and analyze how well they did. It picks up on words a student may need to practice more and has them practice them after reading. This tool will assist teachers by having them see where each student is at in their reading skills. It allows personal help for each student and a teacher will be able to individually help them depending on where they need.

3. Grammarly

Grammarly is one of my favorite tools to use. No matter what level of writing you are at, it is super useful. Grammarly checks your writing for mistakes. It tells you if there are wordy or unclear sentences, punctuation errors, voice misuse, and more. It gives corrections and student can learn from their corrections to make their work stronger.

4. Microsoft Translator

Microsoft Translator is a powerful tool. It takes away language barriers and opens up a door to so many possibilities. It supports 124 languages and language varieties. In a classroom, this could come of use to students learning multiple languages. If a student struggles understanding and if there is a language barrier, it is easily lifted with Translator.

5. Minimal Reading Mode

This tool allows easier reading. It is an extension on your computer than can make any tab customizable. There’s many features. You can get clear spaced font, contrast, zen focus, and dark mode. You can change the spacing of the text and more. This extension is great for improving reading.

6. Speechtify

Speechtify turns text into speech. You can listen to your assignments at any speed on any device-desktop or mobile. There are natural sounding voice options you can choose from. This feature saves time for students and also helps students who understand more hearing it than seeing it.

7. Screencastify

This tool records your screen! It is super useful for teachers especially. They can record lessons and explain things further for those not understanding. Having visuals for students and walkthroughs are great for learning. Anyone who uses this feature can record their screen with their voice in the background or they can even have their camera on.

All these accessibility tools are super useful and if implemented in the classroom, learning can only get better. Thank you for reading!
