Microsoft Learn!

I found an article that discusses the next innovation from Microsoft to help promote collaboration and to benefit learners of different skills. This article introduces readers to Microsoft Learn, a new platform that allows learners to begin at their own skill level in their field of choice while allowing access to collaborate with other members of their field to build a community of learners, which could inspire new ideas and promote growth.

A student could be watching videos with other students like in the image above.

There were some key points regarding the benefits of using this collaborative platform. These include:

  • Opening new doors in technology to help individuals to reach their own personal goals and to reach new heights no matter where they are in life.
  • To be able to learn through “interactive learning experiences and technical resources” (Rifkin, 2022) that will help individuals build problem-solving skills and to develop new skills as well.
  • Individuals can show off their achievements and certificates that show off the fact they finished a certain course.
  • Individuals can connect, engage, and collaborate with other learners in their field for “inspiration, resources, and networking”(Rifkin, 2022).

They have two sections that demonstrate collaboration with other members of Microsoft learn; the Q&A section and the Shows and Events section. The Q&A section allows members of the learning community to ask each other questions, share their experiences, or even help someone else through their questions. It is a global platform, which means it allows individuals from all over the globe to collaborate with each other to learn these new skills or broaden their knowledge.

The other section, Shows and Events, allows members to watch content from other members either live or pre-recorded. This allows members to share their thoughts and experiences with individuals in the field they choose. It helps nourish collaboration efforts globally while enhancing a learner’s capabilities.

In my opinion, this platform is ideal for collaboration. However, there are a couple of cons that I would like to discuss with this platform. They are:

  • There is no open chat function, which allows no room for private communication between collaborators.
  • An individual who wants to create a team environment would have to seek another platform to do so.

In conclusion, Microsoft Learn is just another step into the future for collaborating with individuals around the world to further education and knowledge for anyone of any age. It opens the door to new ideas and innovations by allowing individuals to learn from each other through technology.
