Engage In Global Education With Empatico: collaborating globally

Empatico is a free platform that can help develop your students social-emotional learning in a way that would have been inaccessible for teachers in recent times. Empatico allows for engagement with students in classrooms from across the world.

I think this is useful as an educational technology resource because of how often students and everyday people alike are trapped in their bubble and scope of their own world. In addition to bursting the bubbles of our perspectives students get a chance for cross-cultural relations and discourse with people they otherwise wouldn’t have the chance with.

The article that I found gives a review of the edtech platform and its uses. Link to the article is here.

Empatico as its name indicates is for the development of empathy, self-control, and humility that is to be fostered in our youth and future generation leaders. These three traits are attributes that each and everyone should aspire. However, it is my belief that these traits would be necessary in our future generations are becoming more integrated ethnically. The racial divide we see in our country is often alarming and emphasizes the need for focus on cross-cultural interaction and subjects on this topic.

As technology continues to be integrated in the classroom, teachers will have to prepare as the times change. Empatico is just one of many leaders in edtech integration in the classroom. This I think is a step in the right direction as we all will need the capabilities of technology use in the future however the important thing to note is the physical human interaction and technology that merges with Empatico. Students in the future will be well equipped with technology but the proper use and application will be needed in the real world. Empatico gives a chance for both old school and new school techniques to come together and create meaningful exchanges.

What could often be troublesome in the use of this platform is the exchange between two vastly different time zones that might be incompatible between two classrooms

Overall this is a great resource for social skills in the classroom!
