Virtual Reality in the Classroom: Youtube360

Virtual reality is becoming a very popular tool and can easily be incorporated into a classroom to ensure a great lesson! Virtual reality is a technology used in classrooms to supplement the teaching of the subject, in order to “feel” what is being taught.

A great virtual reality tool I have researched is Youtube360. This is a perfect example of why virtual reality should be incorporated into your future lesson plans!

Lets pretend you are a science teacher and you are teaching your students about the ocean. National Geographic has a ton of virtual reality videos exploring the ocean. This will give your students the ability to “feel” what they are learning, as if they are there.

360 Video of the Deep Sea

Listed above is a virtual reality video of the deep sea. The narrator in the video makes it informational, yet the ability to change the point of view from your own computer gives you the opportunity to feel it.

The white button in the top left corner is the button that changes the cameras point of view!

Youtube360 can be used for almost every single subject that is being taught K-12! It is attention grabbing and will give your students a better POV, rather than just showing pictures.
