VR in the classroom

VR is becoming a common tool people use today. Whether it be for their own entertainment or in the classroom.

Youtube 360 Videos allows for VR to be in the classroom. Youtube 360 Videos gives students an opportunity to see videos in a 360 degree format. They can view famous landmarks or be face to face with certain activities or events.

This is a video of Youtube 360 in action! This video takes you on a tour of Christopher Columbus Castle.

Using Youtube 360 Videos in the classroom allows for students to explore events they may find interesting to them. In the classroom, you can use it by having students pick a place or event that they find interesting, let them explore it and then have them write about what they saw and explored. It allows for them to be more engaged in your lesson because it is something that they are interested in.

Students can use Youtube 360 at home using a laptop or mobile device without needing a VR headset. This tool lets anyone and everyone use it at any time with or without the VR headset.

The potential that this leads for global collaboration is that students can see the world in a different view point. They can take a virtual field trip too many different places which can spark interest to learn more about the culture they are seeing. Students get the chance to emerge themselves in a different setting then what they are used to. This can also allow for students to see what parts of the world need help. Either in general or using the Sustainable Goals Project. Many students will be engaged when they view places they never thought they would see in a 360 degree format.

Youtube 360 Videos and VR in the classroom allows students to express themselves and explore different parts of the world.
