WE Teachers Social and Emotional Learning Module

Today I explored we.org and came across a module that discussed social and emotional learning. I know in my future classroom I want to focus on this topic every day. I want my children to grow both emotionally and academically in my classroom. This module provided me with lots of helpful ways to incorporate these ideas.

Social & Emotional Learning

In the module, this chart was provided. This is a great way to break down the main ideas to best incorporate this in a classroom. I can use this chart to make sure that I am including all of these points in my future classroom.

STOP Technique

I really liked how in this portion of the module students get to recognize a variety of emotions. Instead of just happy, sad, and angry, they get tons of words that can best describe how they are feeling. This is super important so the students can feel understood. I only really like how it breaks down “STOP” to help control the children’s emotions. I will definitely be teaching students this technique.

Lists to Help Mood

Throughout the module, there are multiple sections of this that provide the child with ideas, as well as give them space to write their own. I really like how it gives the children space to be creative as well as learn. This allows them to best increase their knowledge of themselves as well.

Be Kind to Yourself

There are many colorful graphics throughout this module that I would love to have around my future classroom. I love how they are super bright and eye-catching while having super informative quotes. I learned so much from this module and cannot wait to implement these ideas in the future.
