Chat GPT is an incredibly smart AI web-based program that can generate a multitude of functions from writing essays, answering questions, translating languages, and many more. With this new technology, the field of education is pressed to find ways to understand, implement, and set boundaries for the incoming wave of AI assistance.

Below are some things mentioned by Dr. Fayyoumi to consider when thinking about the future of education and Chat GPT.

1

Functions

Chat GPT is a tool to be utilized by students, professors, and administration to preform functions such as:

Essay writing in different narration, answering quiz questions, coding, purposal drafts, grading assignments, research, academic reviews, math equations, etc.

2

Adaptation

With Chat GPT capable of successfully completing university exams such as the MBA and US medical licensing exam, universities must adapt to the intelligent system and find ways to work alongside its capabilities. Many education institutions have banned the use of Chat GPT instead of adapting to the tool and finding creative solutions to govern its features and implement boundaries.

Educators are faced to reconsider their traditional roles as the sole source of information to their students and adapt to incoming AI technologies.

3

Limitations

The intelligence of Chat GPT is superior, but not immaculate. Since it is a system based on language there are possibilities its outputs are innacurate.

In relation to the initial fearful responses to Chat GPT’s intelligence and capabilities, Dr. Fayyoumi noted that the only thing to fear should be missing out on the opportunities this tool carries with it. Ultimately, Chat GPT should be seen through the lens of optimization, further knowledge acquisition, educational growth leaps, and streamlining tasks to open up more time for productivity.
