Student Learning is Moving Toward Data Analysis

The Covid-19 pandemic has been a negative factor in many places and the K-12 education system took a pretty big hit. In the article I found on twitter from @BethlamForsa, it was recorded that the student academic performance has decreased immensely. This came as big warning to all school systems and to all the people in the United States. The next step was to find ways to improve teacher instruction.

There have been studies, research, and other observations conducted and determined that specialized instruction to meet every individuals needs were most effective. Educators must have a good understanding of each of their students progress with their academics in order for them to receive the most nourishing and enriching education.

Preassessment testing is performed to see where the students’ abilities lie in conjunction with the course materials. This allows educators to prepare accommodations and modifications for every students own individualized instruction.

In order for schools to use the “data-driven approach”, schools would need to determine which sources would work best for their school and devise a well thought out plan to implement this idea. The formative assessments can help improve students progression on areas and subjects that they may struggle in while having efficient feedback time.

Having the attitude of every student learns differently is the first step for the progression of student learning. Using assessments as data to monitor student progress is an effective strategy for a more personal instruction.
