Educational Technology Blog 7

This week I learned about hyperdocs and how to use them in the classroom. They are an interactive google doc or slides that allow students to take control of their education. It lets students explore outside links and get creative with their learning. With hyperdocs, students can watch videos, read articles, and research information on a topic. The teacher also can track who watches the videos and clicks on the links so it helps them as well. If something is underlined in a different color there is a chance it is a link and takes you to another website. Hyperdocs allow you to pull information from texts and videos while still having your own lesson plans. In the hyper doc I explored, it is for a special education classroom for k-3. The doc is about the children’s favorite zoo animal and they have to read and write about it. In this hyper doc, the teacher includes a link to the book for the children to follow along or read on their own time. She also includes a link to explore the different animals you would find in the zoo. At the end of the document, there is a link for the students to write about the facts they learned about the animal they like the most. The last page includes a virtual trip to the zoo since they cannot physically go which gives children a sense of what they are learning. Enjoy this link to the hyper doc I read about.
