The Secret Annex Online: Anne Frank’s Hiding Place Virtual Experience

Throughout my virtual experience of observing The Secret Annex I learned about the ways Anne and her family alongside the Van Pels family and Fritz Pfeffer kept hidden and lived. I began my tour learning about the book case that was built and installed to block off the entry way to the annex. I then learned about Anne’s interest in Hollywood stars, she would paste pictures on her wall to keep hope and brighten her mood. I also learned that Annes father Otto would read Charles Dickens when the family would have to be quiet. Overall, this experience was upsetting due to the conditions and situations however, it was also amazing to see how families forced into hiding still found a way to hold hope and find ways to ease their minds. I recommend taking this virtual tour and watching the video links provided within.

  1. Good Evening kernb3,

The virtual experience you chose seems like an incredibly reliable source of information for a depressing topic. Learning about Anne’s father Otto would read Charles Dickens as you said offers an insight into what her life was like. I’ll surely check out the videos and virtual tour you linked.
