The San Diego Zoo Live Cams

By: Alex Sellitsch

For this weeks virtual field trip, I decided to pack my bags and fly to San Diego, CA (but not really). I was able to get comfy in my bed without the hassle of traveling, and watch from home the animals that live in the San Diego Zoo. There were a lot of live cams to choose from. I could watch the polar bears, a platypus den, koalas and even giraffes! The zoo gives the virtual visitors a lot of variety to choose from which was exciting! I was able to see how a platypus swims around in the water and watch a polar bear tear apart its dinner. I have become very familiar with the San Diego Zoo’s live cams, as I have been planning to incorporate the virtual cams into a in-person lesson for my students. As the students work on drawing habitats for animals, they can watch live feed of an animal in their habitat. These live cams are fun to sit down and relax to, or to take a “brain break” in between lesson planning and school work.
