WE Virtual Learning: Combating Racism in the Classroom

Weschools.org is a virtual learning guideline for teachers. This website gives the tools for teachers to go up against many different tough obstacles such as, after COVID learning, Diversity and Inclusion, Youth Violence, and so much more.

As a student myself, I am enrolled in a Racism and Medicine class here at Stockton University. This course has been enlightening to say the least. Educating my generation on racism was never a priority. I am 38 years old and was not taught about institutionalized racism, the effects of it, or what I can personally do to stop it. In order to get to the root of this world wide problem, we need to teach our children young.

This website provides an entire lesson plan on exactly how to do that. From definitions, to videos and discussions, this teaching module helps us navigate the difficulty of educating our children on racism and its detrimental effects. When discussing sensitive topics with children, it’s a good idea to have guidance. I found the details of this lesson plan to be exactly what an educator needs to combat the topic of racism!
