Narcos on Netflix

Narcos is semi-historic drama series on Netflix depicting one of the most notorious drug kingpins Pablo Escobar. This being an overdramatized biographical drama it is riddles with time specific stereotypes. It takes place heavily in South America and give an example of some of the lower income individuals who were critical in his rise to power as well as the other ruthless soldiers who followed him. Narcos gives a snapshot of live in south America such a the small villas and houses that were common. One other thing that greatly distinguished itself was strong and involved families were within the business they controlled. This particular series showed light on the excess and flashy styles of the South American smugglers. Family style meals and street market vendors with food seemed to be staples of the culture. They often used horses and donkeys for transportation. The characters seemed to value wealth, power, and loyalty. Much of the opening episodes took place with in the thick forests and mountain sides of south America. The weather seemed to be tepid and wet. Not full of factories and subdevelopments like we have here.
