2014: A Proud Year for Stockton Alumni

-Upon my recommendation, the Board of Trustees votes to authorize me as resident to petition the New Jersey Office of the Secretary of Higher Education to officially classify Stockton as a comprehensive university. Stockton has met the requirements for such a designation for the past five years.

-Stockton ranks #9 in the “Top 10 Public Regional Universities in the North” by U.S. News & World Report in its 2015 edition of “America’s Best Colleges.”

-Stockton purchases the former casino Showboat Atlantic City and will transform it into a branch campus which will provide beds for 852 students with additional educational, recreational, dining and parking facilities.

-Stockton is named to the “Best for Vets: Colleges 2015” listing by Military Times, ranking #22 among 100 four-year schools. U.S. News & World Report also cited Stockton as “Best for Vets.”

“You Make the Difference – The Campaign for Stockton College” concludes, generating donations and gifts of $25,363,687 – far exceeding the original goal of $20 million.

-The Men’s Basketball team advances to the Sweet 16 of the Division III NCAA Tournament.

-Enrollment hits a record high as we welcome the incoming Class of 2018.

-The College is selected as the “Greenest College in New Jersey” by College Prowler, and is named as one of the most environmentally responsible colleges in the U.S. and Canada by The Princeton Review.

-The Woodstockton spring concert features the multi-platinum band, the Goo Goo Dolls.

-Dedicated to Dr. Demetrios J. Constantelos, the Constantelos Hellenic Collection and Reading Room opens in the Bjork Library. The new facility houses 3,000 rare and important works.

-Thanks to the Building Our Future Bond Act approved by voters in 2012, expansion of the Unified Science Center begins.

-U.S. Supreme Court Justice Sandra Day O’Connor (Ret.) is the College’s inaugural scholar for the Dean and Zoe Pappas Visiting Scholar Series.

-The Women’s Volleyball team secures its 7th consecutive NJAC Championship Title.

-Stockton is named to Kiplinger’s Personal Finance list of 100 Best Values in Public Colleges. The ranking cites four-year schools that combine outstanding academics with affordable cost.

-The Stockton Seaview Hotel and Golf Club, purchased by the College in 2010, celebrates its 100th anniversary.

-Stockton hosts the NBA’s Philadelphia 76ers for training camp in the Sports Center.
