Hi! Welcome to my blog! This week we will be discussing the first episode of Berlin, Berlin. I got to watch it in German while reading the subtitles. I enjoy watching shows and movies that have subtitles. It gives us a view of different cultures.
This is the link to the episode I watched. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wDdZkx_Z1Kg Should you choose to watch! I really enjoyed watching the episode.
The cultural aspects of the episode of Berlin, Berlin were very similar to the culture aspects we see in our country. The main character, Lolle, just graduated from high school, she lived with her parents in a small town in Germany.
The culture of Berlin, Berlin was very similar to our culture. Upon graduation, Lolle’s boyfriend, Tom, was moving to Berlin to work. They traveled by train from city to city There was not much in the way of food, but chocolate was mentioned multiple times as a food Lolle likes to eat. There was also a mention that Lolle should eat more fruit and not as much chocolate. The weather was overcast, not raining but not sunny either. They were not wearing coats, so I imagine it wasn’t too cold. Lolle wanted to go on holiday to Crete for fun, since they both just graduated, with Tom when he told her he was leaving. Lolle valued being faithful to her boyfriend and trying to be a good daughter to her father.
The physical surrounding of the episode looked exactly what I expect Berlin, Germany to look. The entire episode took place in the hometown and then in Berlin. The social cues of the characters were no different than our social cues in our country.
All in all, I was overall entertained by the episode of Berlin, Berlin and I look forward to watching more!
Thanks for reading!
