I know that all of the talk recently has been about the coronavirus and how important that it is to stay home and clean, clean, clean, but another huge part of this whole thing is the fact that the public schools are closing. For many people this is not something that is easily handled because for most they need to find someone to watch their kids and make sure that the work is done, with that being said, it is important to have balance in this trying time.

Creating a Schedule
It is very important to remember that creating a schedule for your children and even you, as parents or caregivers is going to make this time much more manageable. Students need to have a time and a place, for them to be put at ease as much as parents are. They have a lot of school work that needs to be completed, and this is still a time that they need to be learning, it is not a vacation. It is hard for younger students to have the self- discipline to be able to sit down and work on the work that was assigned. But not only the work that is assigned, is important for this time either. It is imperative for students to get up and walk around and be outside, and explore and to play. I am going to attach a schedule that I found online, that is a great way to make sure that your child is having “school” at home, and an easier way for parents to get the child to work and play without confrontation.

Resources
It is also very hard for parents to be the facilitator of the knowledge when they have multiple children that are working on different things, and maybe the parent is not as well off in that subject area, or the way that it is taught now. It is okay to reach out to other parents, and teachers and administrators, they are available during this hard time as well. But not only reach out to those, just google some things. Many different organizations are making it possible for things to be taught at home and offering resources that can be used at home to support the work that is being given. I am going to attach some links, that are helpful for parents and caregivers to better assist them with the school work that needs to be done at home.
