Twitter Overview
In class we started to use twitter chats as a way to grow our PLN, and to be honest, it is one of the most rewarding things that I have done in college thus far. I feel like I have learned so many different things, and have seen things in so many different lights. It is really amazing to see what people have to say about things that you have an opinion on too, or maybe you didn’t and now you do. I have learned, and saw so many different topics that I did not even know I was interested in until twitter. It opens up a world of opportunities to learn.
The Learning
When it comes to what I have learned on twitter, honestly it is kind of crazy. I feel like the idea of learning has completely changed, from thinking that learning needs to be done from a teacher/professor and not on your own time. I think now that learning is really done on its own time, it is when you want to learn and what you want to learn is totally up to you.
Twitter Chats
To be honest, I had no idea that twitter chatting was even a thing before this class. I knew that hashtags were used in order to connect people with like ideas, but I had no idea that there were conversations that were had over them. Twitter chats are an amazing way to talk to people live about a topic that you are interested in, have a lot to say about, or want to learn about.
The Wrap-Up
To wrap up my experience with twitter, I would have to say that it has taught me a lot in the little time that I have been using it. Doing twitter chats, interacting with authors, and people from all around the world about the same topic, is a learning experience that cannot be topped. To think that all of this learning is happening over social media, and at the tip of my fingers. It is kind of really powerful to think about because it is something that we can have at any time we want.
