Using Storyboard That

Hello and welcome back to my blog. This week I used a new tool called Storyboard That. This tool was very easy to use and had no issues using it. I will share down below how I used Storyboard That to create my story.

Storyboard That provides you with three blank rectangle spaces. There are various options of character choices and scenery to choose from to create your story. I created a little mini storyboard of what I do every day that helps me get 1 step closer to receiving my bachelor’s degree.

I started with what I do. I am a legal secretary at a law firm. In 2016, I returned to work after taking a year off when my daughter was born. Before finding my job in the law firm I originally worked as a waitress in many restaurants, Waitressing helped financially support my college before I took time off. I decided to take the job at the law firm and work my way up. I felt this would motivate me to go back to school and get my degree. I added this in a text on my storyboard along with pictures and an office setting.

The second board I created was of myself going back to school. I added this box because I took time off school because I had a daughter and I was helping raise 2 of my stepchildren full time. It has not been an easy ride and every year I kept telling myself I would go back. Three years went by and finally decided it was time to go back. I have 1 semester left and then I am done!

The last box is a picture of my family. I felt this is the most important picture to add. Without the support and love of my family, I would never have been able to go back to school and follow my career path. I also want to be an example for my children that no matter what life throws at you, you must take time to accomplish the goals that you want.

Creating this story using the Storyboard That tool was fun. I was impressed with all the choices there were to create a story, This also helped me look at why I am doing what I do everyday . Working, school and taking care of kids takes a toll and some days I questions why I put all this work on me. At the end of the day it is all worth it to better myself, and my career for my family.
