Close to Home

These pictures of the Irish National Heritage Park in county Wexford suggest life in and around a medieval Irish rath or homestead. This particular rath would have belonged to a wealthy farmer or a less important noble. The size, the composition of the buildings, and the proximity to livestock is typical of life as it would have been in 9th-century Ireland.
