Edge for Education: International Teachers Share their Tips

*Teachers from 5 different countries share their own tips about Microsoft Edge.

Immersive Reader- Make texts larger and do a read out loud with the website and have a speaker on the computer screen read the text shown. Something for English students, you can use a tool to highlight the nouns in the text.

When Using Microsoft Edge you can click at the top of the page to add a new tech page.

There are PDF features in Microsoft Edge. There’s a button for zoom in, zoom out, draw, print, etc. With the “Draw” tool, you can write on your page and any assignments on that site you need to complete you can just write, right on top of it.

You can use multiple accounts while being in Microsoft Edge. While being on Edge, you can be on multiple accounts or have many open at one time.

There are many different features and tips that are very useful to know after watching this video from teachers in different countries sharing their tips about Microsoft Edge. Check it out!

Here is the video I used from the TweetMeet on Twitter for this assignment. It is very useful!

Google Classroom

Welcome to my first, “Research Response” post! As I was searching twitter using the hashtag #edtechchat I came across as an article written by Sarah Kiefer, “A Deep Dive into Google Classroom Settings You Can Do”

4 main setting areas of google classroom:

1- Invite vs Join; With google classroom, you will have to invite your fellow students to your google classroom page so they can view assignments and class tasks. When a student joins the class they can see everything you post and are officially apart of the class.

2- ALL Notifications: This setting is when other teachers and students can see every notification that is posted on the site page by the teacher whether its for tests, homework, projects, extra assignments.

3- Class-Specific Notifications: This setting underlies the ability for the class to see only certain notifications that are needed to be viewed once the teacher posts them on the front page of google classroom. This way, students can see what is coming up soon for work assignments or class events.

4- Assignment Settings: Students will be able to view only posts for any assignments that need to be done, coming up, or past due that need to be discussed over.

Knowing the settings for Google Classroom is very important to know especially as a teacher because you will use this in your classroom to give students assignments, feedback, and more. For personal experience, I’ve had to use google classroom for one of my classes and needed to know how to navigate it and find all my assignments and class feeds. As a future teacher, I will further need to know more about google classroom as I will be using it with my students during the school day and possibly outside of school.
