Ways to Use Google Slides
This week, I chose to focus on Google Slides, a digital tool that was mentioned in Chapter 2. In the textbook, Google Slides is categorized as “Celebration”, which features digital tools that can be used for sharing outcomes. While this is true, as Google Slides can be used for showing presentations, it also has many other uses within the classroom.
Google Slides can be used in the classroom for…
Visual Presentations
Google Slides is a great way to make a boring lecture fun and interesting to students. Using this tool, teachers can add pictures, aminations, and videos to their slideshows to enhance their presentations. Teachers can also add any visual aids to help enforce the concepts being covered and connect to their students that learn best visually.
Collaboration
Students can use Google Slides to work together to make projects and presentations. Through Google Slides, students will be able to work together on the same slideshow simultaneously and communicate with each other through the chat feature. Activities that involve this type of collaboration will prepare students for the collaborative skills they will need in their future professions.
Student Presentations
Google Slides is an awesome way for students to give creative visual presentations to show information that they’ve learned either individually or in a group. Through this, students are able to teach their peers about the topic of their presentation and improve their public speaking skills.

Extra Practice
Teachers who use Google Slides can share with lecture presentations with their students through email. This will students opportunities to review material concepts discussed in class and go over them at their own pace. Teachers can also leave extra notes and examples underneath each slide to further explain the concept.
