In this weeks class we used the tool, Out of Eden walk. This tool is on National Geographic’s website and uses the photos captured by Paul Salopek of his journey to retrace the steps of early humans. I chose the chapter out of Africa and visited three milestones. I first visited milestone 2: Afar Badlands. It was was shocking to me that these first humans had to migrate in extreme terrain. The next place I went to was milestone 4: Red Sea. This was shocking to me because such it was a large obstacle that early humans had to get around without the luxury of today’s mobility. The final spot I went to was milestone 7: Red Sea. This photo shows how Paul is still out in the vast sea many days into the voyage. It makes me wonder how the earlier humans where able to move.
