The Certificate in American Studies allows students to earn advanced training in American Studies without committing to a master’s degree program. It consists of a total of 15 hours of graduate credit (equivalent to 5 classes at 3 credits each), to be completed in a combination of core courses and electives. The Core Courses include AMST 5000: Proseminar in American Studies and AMST 5001: Research Methods in American Studies.
With permission of the Program Director, students may apply one graduate course from outside of American Studies toward their elective requirement. This might consist of graduate courses in Stockton’s Master of Arts in Holocaust and Genocide Studies Program (MAHG) and/or in one of the Master of Arts in Education programs, including MAIT, MAEL, and MAED. For further details, see Core Courses, Electives, and Internships.
