Google Apps In The Classroom

Hello Everybody!

Today I will be talking about Google Apps used in the classroom. Google Apps allows students and teachers to use:

  • Google Classroom
  • Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Slides, Google Sheets, Google Forms
  • Gmail
  • And More

Google Classroom allows class to be paperless and convenient. It makes communication easy and allows for collaboration. Collaboration is not only limited to school as if work was being done on paper; with Google Apps, students can work together at home.

Many teachers are using Google Apps in the classroom. Take a look at this lesson plan for using Google Apps in the classroom: http://lessonplanspage.com/ciusinggoogledocstutorial712-htm/

Google Classroom is helpful worldwide as you can see in this video

How To Get Fired For Using Technology

Hi Readers!

Technology is becoming something that more and more employers are wanting their employees to be able to use. With using technology at work there comes some rules, and if you don’t follow them you risk losing your job.

In this post we will be covering three ways teachers and businessmen and women can lose their jobs over the use of technology.

  • Reason #1: Using the internet for non-work related activities such as online shopping.
    • According to an article written by Stacy Rapacon on CNBC, “28 percent of employers report that they have fired people for using the internet for non-work related activities during the workday” (CNBC).
  • Reason #2: Being fired over something you say on social media
    • In the same article mentioned above, Stacy Rapacon reports that, “according to CarreerBuilder, 18 percent of employers have dismissed employees over something they posted on social media” (CNBC).
  • Reason #3: Inappropriate communications between students and teachers
    •  An article written on the New Jersey School Board Association website, says that “policies were put in place to make sure school districts were preventing this type of communication. The polices were put into place because school districts wanted guidance on ensuring proper communication between students and teachers” (NJSBA).

Educational Technology Blog // Research Response

Welcome to my first, “Research Response” post! While searching the #edtechchat on Twitter I came across a tweet from @MattHarrisEdD that referenced an article written by Katrina Schwartz. The article was titled “Coaching Teachers to Become Powerful Users of Classroom Tech”.

I personally thought the article was very interesting. I especially enjoyed when the article mentioned the new program called the Dynamic Learning Project (DLP). The article explains how the DLP is working towards helping teachers use new tools in the classroom. It also talks about what’s up next for the project which was very interesting to read.
